Toronto-based Digital Illustrator & Writer.

ABOUT

Sadé Powell is a Toronto-based Digital Illustrator, Journalist, and Content Creator whose work exists at the intersection of music, pop culture, and contemporary identity.

Since beginning her digital art practice in 2018, Sadé has cultivated a distinct visual language that marries vibrant colour palettes, storytelling and culturally resonant imagery. Her work often reimagines familiar icons and moments through a playful lens that feels new and refreshing. With her art, Sadé aims to spark a sense of joy and whimsy for the viewer.

Raised with a deep love for art but limited representation of Caribbean and queer creatives in the spaces she admired, Sadé understands the power of visibility. Navigating an industry often framed as unstable or inaccessible, she committed to building the kind of creative career she once struggled to imagine.

Sadé is best known for her Chibi characters of notable figures and characters as well as her signature “Morbid Maiden” portrait series pieces that balances fantasy with emotional depth. Sadé has independently organized and produced two solo exhibitions translating her digital practice into immersive, in-person experiences.

Her client portfolio includes collaborations with the Toronto Raptors, Dairy Farmers of Ontario, Roots Canada, Apple, and MuchMusic. She has also created artworks for the likes of Canadian popstar Tate McRae, One Direction’s Niall Horan, Keith Urban and rapper A Boogie With The Hoodie.
